Do you have an appreciation of classic oriental furniture? nepchin is delighted to talk to Annie the Manager at RNA Furniture in Rozelle Sydney about their collection of furniture.

nepchin: “Hi Annie, very nice store you have in Rozelle/Balamain. When nepchin stepped into the store we didn’t know where to start looking! Can you tell us abit about the type of furniture you have available? We don’t know too much about classic furniture so it would be good to get an understanding of it from your perspective.”

Annie: “The furniture is about the carving, the history and the colour of Chinese culture. The collection we have are pieces of art that carry history and includes display cabinets, bedside treasure draws, bedside tables and hall tables. We also have ornaments in our collections like table lamps, porcelain figures, jewellery boxes and the hand calligraphy paintings which are very popular.”

nepchin: “You mentioned on a previous occasion you have been around for 10 years. That’s quite a while. What kind of customers do you normally cater for? and do have any customers interstate or overseas?”

Annie: “Our customers are quite varied but generally most have an appreciation for art. Our customers include people such as interior designers and art collectors who come to us regularly. We are also frequented by overseas and interstate visitors to our store when they visit Sydney and a lot of people are suggested to us by their family and friends. We can arrange for pieces to be delivered to customer’s home local or abroad.”

nepchin: “Amongst your collection here, are there any pieces that customers seem to always ask for? and have you had any unusual requests that customers have been looking for?”

Annie: “We have customers who sometimes come across pieces that have found whilst reading a book and they show us pictures of them. We try to help them look for these pieces. These could be a candle holder or classic reproduction items. One of popular items we have are scrolls we get enquiries on their meaning and Chinese writing styles.”

nepchin: “What do you like most about the classic furniture you have?”

Annie: “I really love the classic oriental furniture. There is a special feeling every time we bring in new pieces as they are different in their own way. When we look at the pieces you can see the hand craft and workmanship in them. There is a feeling and appreciation of the passion and heart that goes into each one. It gives me a strong connection with the history.”
